Betting Systems & Strategies Forum

Published on May 25, 2008 by Paul Graham.

Betting Systems & Strategies ForumIn this section of Online Betting Exposed you can ask questions about the betting systems and services we review, discuss how they work and even post your own ideas and suggestions for maximizing your profits from them.

Here are a few simple guidelines to follow:

1. When discussing betting systems please try your best not to give too many of the system rules away as this is obviously a public forum. It’s absolutely fine to discuss different aspects of the systems, but if you go into too much detail we may have to edit your comments.

2. Please refrain from posting negative comments about any system or service that may be deemed slanderous by the vendor, unless you have good reason to do so. If you wish to report a vendor for operating illegally or unethically please contact us and we’ll look into it for you.

3. As always, we encourage you to participate on every area of our website, but you should note that all comments are moderated and for the good of everyone who visits we simply can’t tolerate bad language, or any other kind of abusive behaviour, so please act responsibly.

And finally, we’ve set up this section so that you’ve got a handy place to come to for chatting about anything betting related that doesn’t quite slot into any other category, so please don’t let this stop you from commenting on the individual reviews we’ve posted in other sections as that’s what they’re there for and your feedback is always more than welcome.

    A day off today, at last. It takes me back to when there was no racing on a Sunday. Although Sunday racing is great for those who can only bet at the weekend, I used to quite like having one day off a week. The downside of course is that the Mutt and I have just been reminded about all of the DIY that’s been building up through the winter. Surf’s pretty flat so we’re going to have to knuckle down, but will probably end up skiving off when Mrs Jeff goes out later. Me to play on the Wii (the Mutt to have a wee).

    • Got to admit it is really quite nice having a free day. I did try taking Sunday’s off last year but only lasted a month or so - guess it’s a habit :)
      Perhaps some Mario Kart on Wii is called for - nice suggestion :)

    where on the site do i find the forum these days ?

    • There’s not really a forum like there was before, but we’re looking at adding one in the next couple of weeks. Until then you can post comments on each individual system beneath it and keep up with what’s going on in the ‘Feedback’ section.

    Welome back Paul. It's good to hear from you again.

    Looking forward to the new site. Ilike the idea. Sort of for the people by the people. Once it's up and runnin, we can all get back to what we was getting good at:

    Praising the good, improving the bad and kicking thye ugly all with a bit of fun thrown in for good measure.

    Hi guys,

    I know I haven't been around much lately and I apologise for that. I've had a few personal problems to deal with and to be honest I don't think we've ever been very clear about the direction we should go in with the site, so I've spent a lot of time humming and hawing about it over the last couple of months. Then to make matters worse, the DB crashed last week when I was trying to upgrade the site and I didn't have a clue how to fix it, which didn't help!

    However, Craig and I now have a proper plan in place and I think it's quite exciting. What we're going to do is create the first “social networking” type site for the betting industry, so rather than us preaching to you about what systems etc. look good and what we think works, we're going to give the members a free reign to review the betting products themselves, post their own thoughts on them, rate products/services according to a number of different factors, then discuss them on a proper forum (not just a post like this).

    Some of this maybe sounds a bit similar to what you can do now, but trust me…. this will be much slicker, more dynamic and a hell of lot more useful than anything anyone else has attempted to do before. Instead of trusting a single person's opinion on a betting product you should simply be able to login and see instantly what dozens, even hundreds, of different people think about it.

    I think that's how a website like this SHOULD work. I'm kicking myself that we didn't just do this in the first place too, to be honest, but you live and learn. The way I set up in the site initially wasn't very dynamic at all, plus we completely underestimated the sheer number of comments we would receive (some individual posts have hundreds or even thousands on them!), but we know now that a user powered community like I've described will be 100x more useful to the members and I honestly do think that it's what the industry needs too.

    I've got practically everything ready to port over to the new site now. It is going to take a bit of time to shuffle the content around, but the new site should be ready tomorrow and I'm going to work on it all this week, so we should be fully up and running before the end of the week.

    Please let me know what you think of this idea. Your opinions, reservations, and even feature requests, will be most welcome!

    Thanks,

    ~ Paul

  8. BettingExposed says:

    Cheers David. The new site is nearinng completion. It really looks amazing. I know it's been a long, long wait, but it really will be worth it ;)

  9. davidsteel says:

    Good to see the site up and running Craig..

  10. BettingExposed says:

    Ha ha - Hope the Dell is OK Jeff ;)

    Although this might seem strange to begin with, I think it will make things much easier to follow from now on.

    When the new site is launched it'll fit in much better.

    As you may have noticed, the comments from months ago have somehow been recycled, hopefully that'll sort itself too…

  14. Jacq says:

    @ Sligobhoy

    Maybe time to start backing them to win for a while. :-)
    That normally turns things round when I try it. :-)

  15. Scott says:

    @Craig

    ROI would be great, thanks!

    Reason is to simply give everyone a more accurate picture of how much they're risking which in turn gives us an idea of what size of bank to have.

    One thing that I believe gives a false picture is just giving out a strike rate. To me it's meaningless unless given with the average price of the selections given.

    As an example, if I said I had a laying system with a strike rate of 65%, people might rightly be put off in favour of some laying system with an 86% strike rate. But if my system laid at average prices of 2.00, and the other system laid at average prices of 8.00, I know what I will use.

    From this, it's easy to see the system with the lower strike rate will be more profitable as opposed to one that will be around break even.

    On the subject of Dodgy Favs (this is ROI related), the results do look impressive, and I might even be tempted to buy it. What has put me off is the following from the system's home page:

    =====

    “What is Return On Investment(ROI) and Why is it so Important?
    All systems have winning and losing bets. The system works if the winning bets out perform those that lose. Below we calculate the ROI for Dodgy Favourites and invite you to check your own laying ROI..

    Understanding the £416 a week profits from just 13 bets.
    Contained later in this letter are all the results, winners and losers, please take time to study them.. These results cover the last 5 month, about 20 weeks. There have been 259 bets in this period, this is about 13 bets a week or around 2 bets each day.

    Of these 259 bets, 199 won £95 to £100 stakes after deducting 5% Betfair commission. This means that the total winnings are £18,905.

    The average losing price was 2.72 on Betfair which is less than 7/4. The total losses added up to £10,320.

    Therefore the system made the difference in profit (£18,905 - £10,320) = £8.584 which is an average profit of £32.94 to SP for every single bet placed(259 bets). This profit is just a little less at £32.17 when it is calculated to the actual Betfair prices that were available(see the right hand column in the table of results).

    This average profit of £32.17 represents a Return On Investment(ROI) of 132.17%. This is exceptionally high for a laying system. We recommend you compare this figure with whatever you are achieving yourselves with your own chosen laying methods.”

    =====

    I'm flabbergasted at the calculations!!!

    Looking at the results from their PDF I got an ROI of 10.3% (I used SP +5% for my liability, P&L at 95%). Very acceptable indeed, but the sales spiel really put me off unfortunately.

    @Jeff

    I see Mutley might be out at the 16.05 tampering with the starting gate, Jeff.

    (I can imagine him stiffling a laugh!)

  19. davidsteel says:

    Richard ,

    FP ia a loss recovery system so be prepared for a white knuckle ride …

    I'm not criticising it and the owner is hands on but its can potentially wipe out a lot of winnings in a short period of time..
