BetTrader : Betfair Trading Software
Ask any punter to name you a betting software product and chances are the words Bet Angel will be the first thing they mention. It’s no surprise really as it’s the most widely known of the betting software available on the market today, but there are other sophisticated trading programs out there to rival it nowadays and undoubtedly one of the best of these is an application called BetTrader.
The creator of BetTrader, Adam Todd, spent five years working as a ’scalper’ making lots of short term trades on the 10 year German Government Bond Futures Contract and it was this knowledge he used to begin his Betfair trading activities. In the space of three years Adam turned a starting bank of just £200 into the best part of £100,000. Impressive by anyone’s standards!
During this time he set himself the challenge of developing a tool that would make his trading life easier - and there’s little doubt he succeeded!
BetTrader is one of the most popular Betfair betting and trading platforms available today and was actually the first of its kind to offer one click bet submission on all Betfair markets (not a lot of people know that). It was first developed in 2004 but Adam has not rested on his laurels, he has updated it year on year and the latest version has so many useful features, there’s no way I could list them all here so I’ll give you a brief overview of my favourite functions:
- Once Click Bet Submission
- Live Updating Prices (to 100ths of a sec)
- Ladder Interface (as used in financial trading)
- Hedge Button
- View Multiple Tabbed Markets
- Price Direction Colour Flashes
- Live Hedged P/L
There are so many other cool things this software can do, it will take you from complete novice to trading guru in a matter of weeks!
I can almost hear you now…. “sounds great Craig, but how much is this gonna cost me to download?” Well, that’s where it gets even better. It will cost you nothing at all to download and start using the basic version.
Obviously, there are costs involved to use the full package, but even these are amongst the most competitive in the market. What Adam has decided to do is to charge you by the minute - much like a pay as you go mobile phone. You can choose from 200 - 2000 minutes and it will cost as little as £4.95 for the 200 minutes and unbelievably only £29.95 for 2000 minutes - that works out at around 1.5p per minute which is superb value for a product of this ability.
For those of you who are likely to use it most days there are other payment options too. You can buy months at a time, the cost for one month is only £39.95 for unlimited use up to £299.95 for 12 months of unlimited use. I really don’t think I can stress how much value Adam is offering here. He’s designed these pricing plans, not only to fit with everyone’s budget, but also with their trading style. If you can only bet at weekends for example, you might only need the 200 minutes, but if you plan to become a full-time trader, you can buy a full year of unlimited use.
Personally, I think BetTrader is more user friendly than the likes of Bet Angel Pro, which although a fantastic product, can be a little daunting - especially to those starting out. And if you are just starting out in the wonderful world of trading, BetTrader has something else to help you ‘bed in’. The big time traders will be trading in units of £100, £200 even £500 and £1000 but when you’re just starting out, you won’t want to be doing that, so you can actually start testing your trades (or your own system ideas) using 1p stakes. Yup, you read that right - just 1 pence stakes! No more of this Betfair £2 minimum, you can learn your trading with the safest possible stakes. It really doesn’t get much better than this!
Actually, it does - for those of you new to trading, or even those just trying BetTrader for the first time Adam has created multiple videos showing you how to use the software. There are so many videos showing you everything from simply placing a bet right the way through to some of the more complicated trading tools and literally everything in between.
I know Paul is a big fan of Bet Angel Pro, but personally I can’t praise BetTrader enough. So much thought has gone into this software that, for me, it’s a must-have piece of kit.
Until next time,

Adam’s results were in the early days of Betfair before any software was around and Adam traded manually using the Betfair interface. It’s a bit deceptive to use this to promote his software. Therefore the videos are not relevant to todays market, that is why he doesn’t display a current P&L, he doesn’t trade any more. Shame the review doesn’t mentioned the three months of issues people had late last year and early this year. That would make the review more balanced. As it is with all the historic reliability problems I just couldn’t use this software.
Hi Mike,
I don’t think Craig was being deceptive at all. He simply wrote about the history of Adam’s software and mentioned that what led him to developing it was the fact he turned £200 into £100,000 over the course of 3 years - which I believe has been independently verified by Betfair. The software came after that, as Craig quite clearly stated.
I couldn’t tell you what the three months of issues were because personally I use Bet Angel.

We’ve been in touch with Adam about this and he confirmed that they were having server problems for a couple of months, but that everything has now been resolved so you shouldn’t have any reservations about using the service in future. The feedback we’ve received from customers has actually been well above average for both Adam himself and for the service he provides.
I wasn’t saying that Craig was being deceptive, just that Adam isn’t exactly being up front. They were not generated using the software and his trading style is long out of date, demonstrated by the fact Adam no longer trades and that his results have been eclipsed by others. Several versions of the software has been plauged by problems in the past and it’s been a constant feature. Given that reliability seems to be a repeating problem I will not use this as a trading tool. I accept everybody may have the odd problem but It took them three months to sort out the last set of issues. Way too long for any body serious about participating in the market. I used to use it as a back up but things got so bad I even ditched it as a backup and switched to an alternative product.
Adam is set to release new video’s showing him trading using the software on around 20 races in a day.
He has freely admitted that things weren’t up to scratch at the tail end of last year but states that these issues have been resolved and the software and server are more robust than ever.
Once we have the video’s we’ll be posting them on the site for people to see.
“He has freely admitted that things weren’t up to scratch ”
He may do now but denied clearly and catagorically that there were any problems at the time and then went quiet for three months, didn’t even have the courtesy to email his subscribers to acknowledge the issues. He hasn’t even mentioned it in the latest email, his first since the issues, no apology or anything. It’s just so unprofessional, as is his latest video.
I don’t mean to be disruptive its just I don’t feel your review was at all balanced taking into account the history of issues with this software.
Hi Mike,
We can only comment on how a service appears when we review it and I certainly wasn’t aware of any technical issues as I only tried it at the start of this year and everything has been running perfectly since then. Craig is probably in the same position.
You’ve filled in the gaps that we didn’t and I’d take it as a positive that Adam has now improved the service and that his customers seem to be delighted with it. I like to see businesses who learn from their early mistakes and strive to improve.

I see it is unavailable again today. This software seems to be constantly plaughed with issues.
Even Betfair’s API goes down at regular intervals Mike.
If you’re not using it any longer I can’t see why it’s such an issue. We’ve had accounts with BetTrader since the start of the year and I can tell for you for sure that this software has been a lot more stable than Betfair’s API and some of the other applications we use.
No-one is disputing they had problems last year, but like I said earlier I think it’s a good thing that they’re progressing in the right direction.
I’ve heard that this software has nothing but trouble. The link above seems to be broken
There was undoubtedly some issues towards the tail end of last year and beginning of this year, however, Adam Todd has given us assurances that this has all been cleared up, and with a new update recently released the future looks bright for BetTrader
Down again today, you really need to reflect this on your review otherwise you other reviews look seriously distorted.
Our review doesn’t look seriously distorted Mike. BetTrader may have had problems last year, but it’s now just as reliable as any other application on the market. That’s a fact and we’re not going to talk about anything that happened LAST YEAR in our review when it’s totally irrelevant now.
I find it rather strange that the only input you ever offer on this site is when you’re having a go at either Adam Todd or his software. If you don’t even use it now (and haven’t for at least 6 months!) then why would it even bother you? It looks as if you’re holding some kind of grudge.
It certainly is working at 13:27.
It wasn’t working yesterday for a while.
As, I only use the free version I can’t complain.
When, it has infrequently not worked I, use alternative software which everybody should do in case this happens.
Agreed Robin.
Adam sent out an email yesterday to inform all of his users that an automatic server upgrade had stopped it working, 30 minutes later he sent out another to say it was back online. That’s good service if you ask me. In my experience it’s been very reliable this year.
Maybe I’m missing something here…I’m new to the whole trading thing and have looked at both Bet Angel Pro and Bet Trader. Both are nice pieces of software but to be quite honest the guy who runs Bet Trader seems to be the only one willing to show up to date video footage of him trading with the software.
Forgive me for my ignorance, but if Mr Todd ‘does not trade anymore’ then how come there are videos from 2008 on his website showing all of his trades in detail ? These various videos and no-nonsense approach have me leaning towards Bet Trader at present.
Hi,
Anyone else got problems with the videos..
