The Cambridge Target System 28/05/08
It was a bit quiet for The Cambridge Target System on Wednesday. There was a couple of potential qualifiers in the early races, but both were odds-on and I think it probably makes sense to follow the author’s lead on this and draw the line at even money. So it was 2.50 before I placed a bet - a dutch bet with two horses at 5/1 and 11/2 - and it won, 10 minutes later an 11/4 qualifier won and that was followed by another winner at 2/1. I finished up at 4pm and recommenced at 7pm, but an hour into it I was going cross-eyed so I just called it a day at that.
Something to note here, and I should really have paid more attention to this when I was doing it, was that the afternoon target would have been reached after the first three races yesterday, so I should probably have bailed out with a profit of £168 after the 3.35 race. If I’d done that and then covered the hour or so at night it would have meant a profit of £118 rather than £68. It’s quite a decisive difference when you consider that over a month it would come to £1500!
I’ll keep a closer eye on that in future, because I feel I’ve done the system a disservice here and any of you who are following it yourselves will probably have done much better than me.
Thursday’s racing is excellent, especially the Sandown card tonight, so I’ll be following both the afternoon and evening meetings right through, or until the targets are reached.

I’d love to tell you it was a case of “close but no cigar” yesterday, but I’m afraid we were on the roll-ups instead of indulging in Cuba’s finest. To be fair, I had a niggling doubt about yesterday right from the word go because the weather was terrible and there was non-runners in virtually every race, often 4 or 5 in one race, and that has a tendency to turn the results on their head.
I only followed it from 2pm to 4pm and then from about 7pm onwards yesterday and I’ll be doing the same today, but the racing is superb tomorrow so I’ll probably cover the full afternoon and evening cards from Thursday to Saturday.
For info, I lost 8 points yesterday, but Craig’s wife followed every race and only lost 5 points, so I guess I must have missed a winner or two when I was out for dinner.

Well, today was hard going with five Bank Holiday meetings to contend with and races going off every 5 minutes. To make matters worse we had loads that went very short in-running only to be beaten at the death, not least of all in the very last race where we had a 9/1 second that went as short as 1.15 in-running and cost us a profit of £225!
Still a profit was made today, albeit a small one considering the number of bets we placed.

There was evening racing on tonight, but Saturday nights are for fighting (well, they’re actually for beer and pizza in my household) so I called it a day at 6.30pm and sat tight with my £224 profit!

You can’t beat starting with a new system and catching a 4/1 winner with your very first bet, then going on to make £378 over the course of the day, but that’s what happened today!
